Plus qu'une exposition naturaliste, "Terre de loups" a des allures de reportage d'un genre peu commun dans le monde de la photographie animalière. Quand le métier de chasseurs d'images mène le plus souvent le photographe à arpenter la lande en quête du sujet convoité, Olivier Larrey a choisi de se confiner cette fois-ci dans un minuscule affût de bois et d'attendre sans en sortir pendant des semaines que les animaux viennent à lui.
More than a nature exhibition, "Land of Wolves" has the appearance of a photo-reportage of a type that is rare int he world of wildlife photography. While the craft of the image hunter usually leads the photographer to roam the lanbd in search of the coveted subject, this time Olivier Larrey chose to shut himself away in a minuscule wooden hide and to wait for weeks, not coming out, fo the animals to come to him.
C'est aux confins d'un no man's land à la frontière entre la Finlande et la Russie qu'il a posé ses valises de baroudeur pour illustrer son rêve ; celui de rencontrer et de suivre une meute de loups. Au cœur d'une tourbière, à la lisière d'une forêt boréale, il nous propose aujourd'hui de nous asseoir à ses côtés et de prendre un peu de temps pour admirer la vie dans ce qu'elle a de plus sauvage.
De ses cinq voyages et quatre-vingts jours d'observation, Olivier a ramené des images inédites en couleur et en noir et blanc dont l'une d'entre elles a remporté le Grand Prix du concours de photographie international de Montier-en-Der 2021.
